BREAKING NEWS: Done deal;Miami is set to sign a blockbuster deal with a young and promising WR

Undoubtedly, Miami’s season did not unfold as many had anticipated, particularly following their opening-day victory against Texas A&M. Nevertheless, the Hurricanes finished the season with a 7-6 record after losing in the Pinstripe Bowl, amid other unusual play calls, injuries, and other issues.

Even though Washington State transfer Cam Ward has joined the team, before spring football practices begin, there are still some things to be thankful for from the previous campaign.

Following Michigan’s victory over Washington in the National Championship last week, the college football season came to an official end. Two Miami Hurricanes placed among the top five Power Five institutions in their respective statistical categories.

First among them was Brashard Smith, who, following three seasons at Miami, just announced his move to SMU. This season, Smith served as the team’s kickoff return specialist, racking up 579 return yards and one touchdown. Elijah Badger of Arizona State lost against Smith, who finished fourth among Power Five programs with 579 return yards.

Francisco “Kiko” Mauigoa was the other hurricane who placed in the top five in a static category. Kiko, who joined his brother on the Canes from Washington State, was a formidable player in his rookie campaign. In addition to leading the team in tackles, he finished fourth in the nation with 18 tackles for loss. In 2024, Mauigoa made the decision to play one more season in Coral Gables.

In order to contend for a berth in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff in 2024, the Hurricanes are seeking to have more stat-sheet stuffers, especially with the previously mentioned Ward and other players on the squad looking to improve next season.
