Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, was interviewed by the Atlanta Falcons this week for the head coaching post. This is a move that may make a lot of sense in the ATL.
Though his time with the Wolverines produced a national championship, Harbaugh was no stranger to success in the NFL, even after a rough parting with the San Francisco 49ers. He has clearly been successful at the collegiate level.
The 60-year-old brother of Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh has been a coach since 2002 and has worked on staffs in both the NFL and college ranks, most recently at Michigan, his alma mater. His overall record as a college head coach is 144-52 (includes an 86-25 record with the Wolverines). That’s all well and good, but how does the NFL factor in?

Oh, he has only played in one Super Bowl and gone 49-22-1 and 5-3 in the playoffs.
With good reason, Harbaugh is one of the most popular names in the coaching world this summer. He is one of the few individuals who would be a good fit to replace Arthur Smith if the Falcons are serious about their search. His success speaks for itself on all fronts.
Although Harbaugh is not a native of the South, he is certainly no stranger to the concept that winning is a universal concept in the nation.
