TRANSFER REPORT: Louisville football already has 26 new additions from the portal

Jeff Brohm, the football coach at the University of Louisville, and his staff have been using the transfer site.

The Cardinals have lost eighteen scholarship players to the transfer portal since it launched at the end of the regular season. However, the crew has added even more corpses to replace those eighteen, bringing the total number of portal additions to 26 at this point.

According to 247Sports, Louisville boasts one of the top transfer portal classes in the nation for the second consecutive offseason.

On the defensive end of the ball, Brohm and his team have added 11 prospects, while on the offensive end, they have added 15. The offensive line has seen the most additions for Louisville, with six players joining, along with three safety and three cornerbacks.

Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shough made the first commitment through the portal on December 5. Miami running back Donald Chaney and Toledo running back Peny Boone, who won the MAC Offensive Player of the Year award the previous season, along with wide receivers Ja’Corey Brooks of Alabama, Caullin Lacy of South Alabama, and Antonio Meeks from Division II Tuskegee University, are the new offensive weapons added to Shough’s arsenal.

U of L also added Mark Redman of San Diego State, Jaleel Skinner of Miami, and Izayah Cummings, an athlete from Kentucky, to strengthen their tight end position. Jonathan Mendoza of Yale, Pete Nygra of Northern Illinois, Victor Cutler of Ohio State, Monroe Mills of Texas Tech, Reuben Unije of Houston, and Rasheed Miller of Georgia Southern have all been added to the line.

The defensive gain has been equally noteworthy.

Tennessee edge rusher Tyler Baron, who was one of the most recent arrivals on January 16, has the top transfer prospect ranking. Thor Griffith, a defensive lineman from Harvard, is among the next best-ranked prospects and was the second person to join the portal. Jordan Guerad of Florida International is the other defensive lineman.

Jurriente Davis of Texas A&M is the new linebacker, and Corey Thornton of UCF, Tayon Holloway of North Carolina, and Tahveon Nicholson of Illinois are the new cornerbacks. The newcomers to the safety team are Blake Ruffin of Eastern Illinois, Wesley Walker of Tennessee, Daeh McCullough of Oklahoma, and Tamarion McDonald of Tennessee.
