Jim Harbaugh of Michigan was named the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coach on Wednesday, taking Brandon Staley’s spot. This reduced the team’s roster to four players. Meanwhile, Boomer Esiason’s possible scoop raises the possibility that another domino may fall shortly.
In a recent radio appearance, Esiason disclosed that he has heard, or believes, that Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, is going to be hired by the Washington Commanders.
“He’s going to be the head coach of the Commanders, I told you that,” Esiason stated on his Wednesday radio program on New York’s WFAN.
This, should it come to pass, would mean the Atlanta Falcons would miss out on a different possible Arthur Smith replacement. Based on his six interviews with various teams this offseason, Johnson, 37, is one of the most sought-after coaching names.
Among those teams were the Falcons, who requested an additional interview with him after the Lions’ Divisional Round victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
