ESPN REPORT: Browns have reportedly signed a blockbuster deal with Seahawks OL to replace Bill Callahan

CLEVELAND (AP) — A source familiar with the decision told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the Cleveland Browns have hired offensive line coach Andy Dickerson from the Seattle Seahawks to replace Bill Callahan, who departed to join his son Brian’s staff in Tennessee.

Dickerson had an interview for the offensive coordinator position (held by Ken Dorsey) with the Browns.

Dickerson was formerly employed by Cleveland under coach Eric Mangini from 2009 to 2010. According to the source, he will be coach Kevin Stefanki’s newest hire.

The individual only agreed to an anonymous interview with the AP because the team won’t make the hire public until Dickerson signs a contract.

Considered one of the best line coaches in the NFL, Callahan departed Cleveland last week after four seasons to work with his son and the Titans. For the exceptional chance, the Browns consented to release the elder Callahan from his contract.

Pro Bowl guards Joel Bitonio and Wyatt Teller are part of the Cleveland line that Dickerson will be leading. The line was decimated by tackle injuries the previous season.

Dickerson spent the last three seasons with the Seahawks, who fired head coach Pete Carroll last month. Dickerson began his career with the organization as the run game coordinator. He was an assistant for the Los Angeles Rams as well.

After finishing 11-6 in the regular season and making it to the playoffs, Stefanski reorganized his staff.

After four seasons, Alex Van Pelt was sacked and replaced by Dorsey, who was hired last week as the offensive coordinator for New England. Van Pelt is anticipated to call plays for the Patriots, since he desired the opportunity.

Stefanski has not stated if he will give play-calling responsibility to Buffalo fired Dorsey.

In addition, Stefanski let go of tight ends coach T.C. McCartney and fired running backs coach Stump Mitchell. Tommy Rees and Duce Staley, in that order, have taken their places.
