Louisville, Ky. – Another player of the Louisville men’s basketball program will lose significant time due to injuries. Sophomore guard Skyy Clark stated on X, previously Twitter, that he suffered a broken rib in the Cardinals’ previous game against Georgia Tech on Saturday. Clark had a severe tumble in the second half against the Yellow Jackets, but he stayed in the game. While it is unknown how long he will be out, he stated that he would “be back soon.” “Broke rib… no sweat… no complaints!!!,” Clark wrote on X. “Still finished it for my buddies. I couldn’t breathe, and it ached like crazy, but I’ll be back soon #cardnation.”
Clark’s injury is just the latest in a long run of major setbacks for the Cardinals this season, as the team has already lost three players. Dennis Evans was medically unable to compete, J.J. Traynor re-injured his shoulder, and Hercy Miller had surgery for a chronic hip issue. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound point guard has started 22 of Louisville’s 24 games to date, missing only the game against Florida State on Feb. 3 due to a hip ailment and coming off the bench last Wednesday against Syracuse. Clark is second on the squad in scoring (13.1), assists (2.9), and steals (1.0) per game. The Los Angeles native joined Louisville this offseason after spending his true freshman year at Illinois. The former five-star prospect averaged 7.0 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.1 assists per game in the Illini’s first 13 games this season before announcing his departure for “personal reasons.”
