Kalen DeBoer continues to transform Tuscaloosa into a southeast Seattle. Alabama’s first-year football coach announced on Friday the hire of former Washington colleague Courtney Morgan as the Crimson Tide’s new general manager.
“Courtney is such an important part of our program,” DeBoer told Charlie Potter of BamaOnline.com. “He has excellent ties across the country and is critical to assisting us in recruiting and evaluating talent at the high school level as well as through the transfer site. Courtney is a critical part of what we are trying to do at Alabama, and I am thrilled to be able to bring him to Tuscaloosa.”

Morgan will manage Alabama’s roster while also overseeing the daily operations of the program’s personnel and recruiting departments, as well as internal brand management. For the last two seasons, he worked under DeBoer as the Huskies’ general manager and director of player personnel.

Morgan, who played offensive guard for Michigan from 1999 to 2003, was the Wolverines’ general manager for the 2021 season before joining DeBoer in Washington. He worked under DeBoer in the same capacity at Fresno State in 2020 and has prior experience in player development at UCLA.
“I love working for Coach DeBoer and I am looking forward to continuing the standard that Alabama football has set,” Morgan said in a statement. “Everyone on this staff is working toward the same goal, and we believe in Coach DeBoer’s strategy for winning. Trust and hard effort are critical components of success, and I’m always ready to work. I absolutely trust Coach DeBoer’s approach to program development.”
