BREAKING NEWS: Browns With a Shocking $11.359 million Move For Top CB as Confirmed by Head Coach Kevin Stefanski

Despite injuries on their roster, the Cleveland Browns managed to make the playoffs. The Browns have made a significant financial choice about Denzel Ward as they seek to regroup, heal, and rebound.

Cleveland has restructured Ward’s deal, freeing up $11.359 in cap space, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. Even with the trade, the Browns remain in cap purgatory, with about $2.5 million available, ranking 25th in the league.

The Browns signed quarterback Deshaun Watson to a big contract. Amari Cooper and Myles Garrett join him with cap hits of more over $20 million. Cleveland has nine players with cap hits exceeding $10 million. Restructuring Ward’s contract gives the Browns some roster flexibility as they attempt to add players.

Ward was limited to 13 games during the 2023 season due to injuries. He recorded 34 tackles, 11 pass defences, two interceptions, and one forced fumble. Ward has made 273 tackles, 76 passes defended, 15 interceptions, and three forced fumbles in his six seasons with the Browns. He is a three-time Pro Bowler.
With Watson and Nick Chubb out with significant injuries, Cleveland depended on its defence to make the playoffs. The Browns reacted by leading the NFL in total defence, giving up 270.2 yards per game. They had the league’s strongest pass defence, allowing 164.7 YPG.
