GREAT MOVE: Browns Are Pushing Hard To Sign $140 Million Superstar WR in Blockbuster Trade

Under Andrew Berry, the Cleveland Browns have demonstrated a willingness to be proactive, and a deal for Las Vegas Raiders standout Davante Adams would be no exception.

One of Cleveland’s top tasks this offseason will be to provide Deshaun Watson more passing options. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the team has made a substantial commitment in their quarterback and wants to provide him with everything he needs to succeed.

“You need additional weapons for Deshaun Watson. If you’re going to spend $230 million and three first-round picks on Deshaun, you should give him as many weapons as possible to make his job easier,” Cabot said on the Orange & Brown Talk podcast on March 2.

Some intriguing free agency options exist, like Calvin Ridley and Mike Evans. But Cabot believes the Browns are looking into a trade for a playmaker and lists Adams as a possible candidate.

“I believe they’ll look to the trading market. Will Davante Adams be traded? He is absolutely capable of propelling you to new heights. And I’m sure someone the Browns would be interested in to some extent,” Cabot stated. “But I don’t know how much they are willing to spend from a draft capital standpoint.”

Browns acquired Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore. Via Trade

The Browns have added crucial parts to their passing game through trades over the last two seasons. In 2022, Amari Cooper was acquired from the Dallas Cowboys for a bargain. The team acquired Elijah Moore from the New York Jets previous offseason.

Cleveland has already cleared some cap room to make moves. Star cornerback Denzel Ward reworked his contract this summer, providing the Browns $5.6 million in effective cap room, according to Over The Cap. Watson and Cooper might also alter their contracts to increase that figure. Cabot does not believe cap space is an issue if the Browns have someone on their radar who they perceive as a potential game changer.

“The Browns will find a way to pay ‘that guy’ if they feel he’s worth it,” Cabot pointed out. “They are just one really good double-digit edge rusher and one 1,000-yard receiver away from achieving their goal this year, which is to win the Super Bowl. I believe they need impact players in those places.

“When push comes to shove and it gets close to the league-year opening, you usually see some unexpected deals happening.”

Raiders Do Not Want to Trade Davante Adams.

Adams’ CV is as gilded as it gets. He had six Pro Bowl appearances, three First-Team All-Pro selections, and twice led the NFL in receiving touchdowns. But his tenure with the Raiders has been turbulent.

He has continued to produce with 2,660 yards and 22 touchdowns in two seasons. However, the Raiders have experienced quarterback turmoil and are currently rebuilding. Adams has not been bashful about venting his emotions.

Where Could This Historic Feat Put Davante Adams In NFL History?

“I’m a human being, and I have extremely high standards for myself in this offence,” Adams stated in October, according to ESPN. “I’m sure people are thinking, ‘They won the game, why is there an issue?’ I mean, you can see why this is an issue. You should know who I am and what I’m about at this point. When you’re a player like me, the mental benchmark is greatness, not wins and defeats. So, when I go out there, I expect to be able to capture that on video and make an impact on the game. That is my purpose for being here. I’m not here to hang around; I came here to win and do it correctly.”

Adams’ name has come up in trade rumours this offseason. However, new Raiders general manager Tom Telesco wanted to dispel any sense that Adams was on the trading block.

“He’s a Raider,” Telesco declared on February 27.

Telesco issued a solid comment on Adams. However, the Browns may be able to put together a deal that would compel Telesco and the Raiders to reconsider their attitude.
