Another All-Star is on the move only days after one of the biggest moves of the NBA summer.
The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to trade point guard Jrue Holiday to the Boston Celtics, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Trail Blazers are expected to acquire center Robert Williams, point guard Malcolm Brogdon, the Golden State Warriors’ first-round pick in 2024, and the Celtics’ unprotected first-round pick in 2029 in exchange.
The deal comes just days after Portland acquired Holiday in a three-team blockbuster that sent star point guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks. With the Trail Blazers rebuilding, it was expected that Holiday, an All-Star selection in 2013 and 2023, would be traded at some point.
In coming to Boston, Holiday, 33, will seek to help boost a Celtics club that was ousted in seven games by the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals. Last season, the UCLA product averaged 19.3 points on.479 percent shooting, 7.4 assists, and 5.1 rebounds for Milwaukee. For the third time in his career, the 2009 first-round choice was chosen to the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team.
Many people took to social media shortly after learning of yet another blockbuster NBA transaction.
