Another Sensational Addition: Iowa Hawkeyes Add Another Inter-Big 10 Quarterback Transfer – A Top Experinced Player

Any attempt to improve Iowa’s offence is welcome, thus the Hawkeyes recruited Brendan Sullivan, a former Northwestern quarterback.
As was done before the 2023 season, the Iowa Hawkeyes have added another Big 10-to-Big 10 quarterback transfer. Last year, it was Cade McNamara of Michigan. Brendan Sullivan, who previously attended Northwestern, will be joining Iowa this year.

Sullivan graduated from Davison High School in Michigan as a three-star quarterback and the state’s 23rd-best overall player. He chose Northwestern over a number of MAC programs, including Indiana. The former three-sport athlete transferred to the Wildcats and did not compete in any games as a true freshman in 2021.

In 2022, Sullivan received the opportunity to head the Wildcats’ offence. He played five games, four of which he started, and all of them were losses. In those five games, Sullivan passed for 589 yards and four touchdowns, with three interceptions. Sullivan completed 74% of his passes. Furthermore, he demonstrated his dual-threat abilities by rushing 54 times for 97 yards and one touchdown.

Sullivan competed with Ben Bryant for the starting job in 2023, but lost. With Bryant’s injuries, he received another phone call. In eight appearances and four starts, Sullivan accumulated 714 yards and six touchdowns through the air, with only two interceptions. This time, he completed 63.6% of his throws and added 160 yards and two touchdowns on 75 rushes.

Sullivan has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Iowa offence has been underwhelming of late, and the quarterbacks’ performance is to blame. The Hawkeyes lost three quarterbacks throughout the summer. Additionally, McNamara, the anticipated starter, is coming off his second season-ending injury in as many years. To make matters worse, he is still recuperating and was limited during Spring practice.

Sullivan will compete to lead an Iowa offence that was 132nd out of 133 in scoring. The Hawkeyes had the lowest passing offence of any non-service academy program, and they finished last in total offence.
