SAINT UPDATE: “I won’t Play For Saint Again” – I Have Had Enough Of The Dennis Allen Slander – Saint Top Star Cry Out.

Dennis Allen takes over as head coach of the New Orleans Saints in 2022, after Sean Payton decided to step down. While he has not been the most popular coach during his tenure, Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu recently stepped out in support of his coach.

Mathieu commented on X, stating that Allen is one of the best coaches he has ever worked with. Demario Davis also responded to the accusation with a shouting emoji, indicating that he agreed with his teammate.

Some of the criticism directed at Allen originates from the fact that the team has missed the playoffs in each of his two seasons and has underperformed as a squad. He was hired to take over for Payton because of how well he transformed the defence during his time as coordinator, and the defence has continued to perform well under his leadership.

Allen will begin his third season as Saints head coach in 2024, and missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year could clinch his fate. That being said, the defensive players clearly enjoy having him around. Given how the offence has done in recent years, it will be fascinating to see if the offensive players feel the same way about Allen, but Mathieu and Davis are two of New Orleans’ most well-known players.
