The Michigan football team had a busy weekend on the recruiting road. The Wolverines have received four commitments since Sunday, but the most recent official visit weekend yielded even more positive results.
Coming into the weekend, one of the issues was whether the Wolverines could lock down Nate Marshall and Bobby Kanka, two defensive line commits who had visited other colleges.
Marshall was flirting with Auburn. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound top-50 D-Line prospect (No. 41 overall) stated that the Tigers and Wolverines were “close” two weeks ago.
However, following his formal visit to Ann Arbour over the weekend, he told Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider, “I’m a Michigan man.”
The pledge of Jaylen Williams, another four-star defensive lineman, appears to have helped solidify things, as the visit exceeded expectations. Michigan football should be able to retain Marshall’s commitment today, which is a significant victory.

Kanka has also received similar news. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive line prospect from Howell, Michigan made a recent visit to Michigan State. The Spartans tried to flip Kanka, but so did Tennessee.
The Wolverines were able to bring him on campus for a visit instead of the Vols, and it appears like the Wolverines have done everything required to retain the fourth-ranked prospect in Michigan’s 2025 class at home.
Kanka, ranked No. 389 in the 247 Sports composite rankings, confirmed his pledge this weekend, as reported by Marich of The Michigan Insider. “I’m solid.” This weekend, I wanted to see how the personnel was in person, and they met all of my expectations. “No, I do not intend to visit other schools.”
