As the 2024 MLB trade deadline approaches, the Philadelphia Phillies are mentioned in a slew of different rumours and suggestions.
Whether it’s a trade for an outfielder or getting bullpen help, a new concept or rumour appears every day. Today will not be the day when the rumours end.
Over the last few weeks, the Phillies have been believed to be interested in adding an outfielder before to the deadline. That has been frequently reported, making it seem like a very real possibility.
The Athletic’s Jim Bowden has added another name to Philadelphia’s extensive list of potential targets.
He thinks Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm would be a terrific fit for the Phillies. His name has recently been referenced in rumours, and he matches the profile of someone Philadelphia could be interested in acquiring.
“Some teams are intrigued in him as a centre fielder, while others see him as a middle infielder, where he had played before switching positions last year. In any case, if Miami receives the proper offer within the next five weeks, he is expected to be dealt. He would be a good fit for either the Phillies or the Giants.
So far in the 2024 season, the 26-year-old outfielder has had a strong showing.
Chisholm has appeared in 78 games, batting.264/.329/.435 with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs. In addition to those stats, he has stolen 14 bases.
If the Phillies were to make a deal for Chisholm, they would acquire a decent hitter as well as excellent speed and agility. He would also be an excellent defensive addition to the outfield.
Looking ahead, the outfielder would have future control. This makes him a highly intriguing prospective target.
All of that said, it will be intriguing to see what Philadelphia does in the coming weeks. Chisholm could be a good fit as a target.
Expect to hear more about guys the Phillies could pursue. The trade deadline rumours are just getting started, and they will continue until the deadline passes.
