After his Roma team fell to Milan 2-1, Jose Mourinho declined to talk to the media, and footage from the sidelines showed Stefano Pioli pleading with him to be silent.
The Special One, who missed the opening two Serie A matches due to a 10-day suspension for disrespecting the referees the previous season, was making his season debut on the bench.
He didn’t take long to incite controversy once more because within 10 minutes after the VAR review for a foul by Rui Patricio on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Milan was given a penalty.
Mourinho was fortunate to avoid punishment from the officials since he stood for a long time mouthing the word “shameful” and mockingly applauding the referee.
At one point during the game, Milan manager Pioli made a clear’silence’ motion with a finger to his lips as Mourinho was speaking to the fourth official.
Mou waved his hand dismissively in response, urging his colleague to go away and take care of his own affairs.
It appears like Mourinho took Pioli’s suggestion to heart and declared a press blackout after the final whistle, declining to address the media.
