HUGE TRADE DONE: Mavericks Land Knicks All-Star Forward in Blockbuster Trade

The Dallas Mavericks are in the midst of one of their best offseasons in team history, which began with the trade for Quentin Grimes. Dallas traded Tim Hardaway Jr. and three second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons for Grimes.

By adding Grimes, the Mavericks got an outstanding defender and a promising 3-point shooter while also becoming younger. Hardaway Jr. was unplayable near the end of his Mavericks career, and Grimes appears to be a rotation player for the foreseeable future.

They followed this up with the signing of Naji Marshall and a sign-and-trade for Klay Thompson, both of which will benefit them greatly.

Thompson is ready to take over as the team’s starting small forward, and his shooting alongside Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic will be extremely beneficial. The Mavericks will search for innovative ways to incorporate Thompson into the offence, and he will also help with the scoring issues that plagued the team during the NBA Finals.

Dallas has done an excellent job of building their roster, but they still have work to do. The Mavericks still have one available roster space, so signing the proper guy to fill some of their needs will be critical.

While whoever is signed to fill this position will most likely not play much, it is critical that they sign someone who is ready to go when their number is called. If the Mavericks truly want to shake things up, they may enhance their roster on the trade market.
