Everton completed an exciting week in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Goodison Park on Saturday.
Goals by James Garner, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Jack Harrison gave the Toffees their first home victory of the season, as well as the first time they scored more than two goals in 17 games.
And, on Monday (9 October), WhoScored named Garner, Doucoure, Harrison, and James Tarkowski to their Premier League squad of the week, citing their outstanding performances.
Along with Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, on-loan attacker Harrison had the “second highest” WhoScored rating of 8.56/10.
Excellent result
Harrison’s goal was a lovely and gutsy attempt from outside the box, demonstrating his true toughness and spirit on the football field. He also demonstrated why Leeds United were hesitant to let him go.
Many Everton fans had forgotten about Harrison’s return from injury, and many did not expect him to have such a major impact so quickly, but he’s already shown to be an important striker for Sean Dyche.
According to FBRef, Harrison is already generating 5.16 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes, which ranks second in the Everton squad. While his sample size is less than that of the majority of his teammates (1.4 90s played), it demonstrates the immediate impact he’s made since joining the club.
Dyche sorely needs originality and imagination in the final act of his right-wing role.
Third, Harrison has all the makings of an instant hit at Goodison Park, and his strike is deserving of being the pick of the bunch in the most recent team of the week.
The international break now allows Dyche to reflect on Saturday’s result and prepare for the return of the Premier League, as the Toffees really need some points and, as long as Harrison is fit and firing, they have every chance of accomplishing so.
