Five-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu, ESPN’s No. 13 overall prospect for the 2025 cycle, switched his pledge from Tennessee to Oregon on Thursday morning.
Utu made his initial commitment to Tennessee on June 24, following an official visit to the Volunteers. ESPN’s fourth-ranked offensive lineman in 2025, the 6-foot-6, 285-pound blocker was part of a superb offensive line class at Tennessee that includes No. 1 offensive tackle David Sanders until withdrawing his commitment.
He paid a visit to USC in Week 2 before cancelling his commitment to the Ducks. He is presently Oregon’s second-best prospect in the entering class. With Utu and No. 1 wide receiver Dakorien Moore (No. 3 in the ESPN 300), Dan Lanning appears to be on track to sign his first two five-star recruits as Ducks coach when the early signing period begins Dec. 4.
Utu is a significant boost to Oregon’s recruiting class, which was ranked No. 8 in ESPN’s most recent 2025 team rankings prior to his commitment. Oregon now has commitments from 12 ESPN 300 players, including Moore, four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson (No. 33), and top athletes Trey McNutt (No. 35) and Dorian Brew (No. 45).
Utu, a four-year starter at Las Vegas powerhouse Bishop Gorman High School, started at right tackle last fall as the team went 12-0 and won the Nevada 5A Division I state championship. Utu is one of the nation’s most seasoned offensive line prospects, with strong potential at both tackle and guard at the next level.
No. 8 Oregon is 3-0 and will play its first Big Ten game at UCLA on Saturday (11 p.m. ET, Fox).
