The Green Bay Packers expect wide receiver Romeo Doubs to return to practice this week. Doubs reportedly skipped two practices last week, prompting the team to suspend him for one game for conduct detrimental to the team. “Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week’s game,” Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a statement posted to the team’s official website.
“His decisions and actions this week had a negative influence on the team, prompting us to take this action. While we are disappointed, we believe we will be able to go on in a positive manner. Romeo is an important element of our squad, and we look forward to having him back next week.” The ban sparked trade rumours, but it appears that cooler heads have prevailed. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on Monday that the two parties had a nice conversation about Doubs’ future.
“Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs plans to attend Wednesday’s practice after meeting with the team today, according to a source. The meeting ‘went well,’ the source said,” Fowler wrote on X. Doubts’ issue was that he did not feel enough involved in the game strategy.
He’s caught 12 passes for 169 yards in four games this season. Two of those games were played without quarterback Jordan Love, who was sidelined with a knee injury. The Packers defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-19 on Sunday, despite Doubs’ absence.
