Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was shot twice last Friday early in Denver, according to 9NEWS.
According to KUSA’s website, about 3 a.m. on October 18, many calls were received about a shooting near East Hampden Avenue and South Dahlia Street. According to documents obtained by 9NEWS, Reynolds was shot twice: once in his left arm and once in the back of his skull. According to reports, another man was shot in the back, while a third victim was injured by smashed glass. According to the records, all three sustained scrapes after climbing over a fence.
On Wednesday, Denver Police reported the arrest of two men in the case: Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza. Both individuals are being held and probed for attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, according to the DPD.
Denver Police also stated on Wednesday that investigators are seeking to identify additional potential suspects.
On October 18, just after 3 a.m., someone contacted 911 to report the gunshot. According to court documents obtained by 9NEWS, the caller reported being shot while driving a blue Ford Bronco.
According to court filings, a video shows Mendoza entering the club after midnight and following the victims rather than observing the performers. Mendoza is said to have followed the victims in his vehicle.
The Broncos issued a statement shortly after the shooting.
“Josh Reynolds was a victim of a shooting in Denver on Friday and received treatment for minor injuries,” the Broncos announced in a news release. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will defer further comment on this matter to the authorities.”
Reynolds was already on injured reserve with a broken finger, so he did not travel with the Broncos to New Orleans for Thursday’s game. Reynolds is in his debut season with the Broncos, having signed as a free agent following three seasons with the Lions. He has also played for the Titans and Rams, and he attended Texas A&M.
