The World Series concluded on Wednesday, marking the start of the summer for the Red Sox and all other big league teams.
Boston must make judgments on internal free agents such as Tyler O’Neill, as well as how to handle its top prospects. However, the most important aspect for Craig Breslow and his team will be free agency.
Juan Soto will be the top free agency prospect in the 2018 class. The New York Yankees outfielder was one of Aaron Boone’s best players in the postseason, and at 26 years old, he’s about to make a life-changing salary. While reflecting on his team’s World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Soto discussed his future free agency.
“I’m not sure what teams are going to come after me,” Soto told reporters, according to SNY. “Of course, I’ll be open to this and every team. I do not have any doors closed. “I’ll be available for all 30 teams.”
It will be a race to sign one of the top young players in MLB. Boston also needs to enhance its pitching staff, but it will be difficult to dismiss Soto as the four-time All-Star considers his options.
