As the Los Angeles Dodgers continue to bask in the joy of winning another World Series, plans for a title defence in 2025 are well underway. Shortstop is an area on the roster that requires improvement. Could Andrew Friedman, president of baseball operations, make a deal with the Minnesota Twins for three-time All-Star Carlos Correa? Since free agency started, Los Angeles has been linked to Willy Adames.
There are strong reasons for this. He’s the best shortstop available on the open market, and it’ll only cost money to lock him down on a long-term contract. As we saw last winter with the Dodgers’ $1 billion shopping spree, they have enough to offer. However, Adames will be in great demand among teams in need of a shortstop, especially the San Francisco Giants. Could Correa be a good pivot if the Twins make him available for trade? In 2024, the 30-year-old played only 86 games but hit.310/.388/.517 with 14 home runs, 54 RBI, and 55 runs scored. He’s in his third season of a six-year, $200 million contract that includes vesting team options in 2029-32.
What kind of deal could the Dodgers offer to acquire the three-time All-Star? Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer presented eight trade recommendations for “buy-low” talents, including the following:
– Dodgers receive: shortstop. Carlos Correa – The Twins receive right-handed pitchers. Bobby Miller & Edgardo Henriquez Los Angeles is already plotting to return Mookie Betts to the infield in 2025. Acquiring a shortstop this winter, whether it is Correa or someone else, would let him to concentrate on playing second base. Correa has long-term injury concerns, but he might play a significant role in L.A.’s continued postseason success.
He has 85 career playoff games under his belt, with a.282/.352/.508 line. The shortstop won a title with the Houston Astros in 2017, and his 18 playoff home runs are among the all-time leaders. It will be intriguing to watch whether the Twins make Correa available and which teams are serious about getting him.
