The Melbourne Storm have confirmed the departures of George Jennings and Jordan Grant.
Jennings, who has played 56 NRL games since making his debut for the Penrith Panthers in 2015, has been with the Storm since 2021 and has appeared in 21 games.
That 2021 season was his best in Melbourne colors, and he was expected to play a significant role in 2022 before suffering an ACL injury in the first game of the season.
He was never able to return to first-grade on a consistent basis, with another injury impeding his progress in 2022.
Grant also joined the Storm ahead of the 2021 season and has played just seven games for the club, but was a member of the Brisbane Tigers’ QLD Cup winning team this season.
“We thank both George and Jordan for what they have brought to the club over their respective three-year stints,” Ponissi said in a statement.
“They’re well-liked members of our group and well-respected for the way they go about their training and preparations; they’ll be missed by our club.”
“They both probably would’ve preferred more NRL opportunities, but they certainly put pressure on for spots and were incredible assets for our Feeder Clubs, and we’re thrilled they were a part of Premiership glory with the Brisbane Tigers.”
“George, in particular, had a rough run due to injury, but he showed incredible perseverance in the face of adversity, which helps drive standards across our club.”
“We wish George, his partner Georgia and his son Hunter as well as Jordan and his partner Maritta the very best for what is yet to come.”
At this time, neither player has signed or been connected with another team.
Jennings and Grant join Jayden Nikorima and Tariq Sims as the club’s four exits thus far, with Grant Anderson, Cole Geyer, Dean Ieremia, and Tepai Moeroa yet unknown.
