HUGE UPDATE: Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell Reveals Lions Are Confident Of Landing $160 Million QB In Free Agent Agency – Deal Already Agreed.

ALLEN PARK— According to reports, free-agent quarterback Daniel Jones is contemplating his options, with multiple clubs interested in signing him for the rest of the season, but it’s unclear if the Detroit Lions would be among them.

While meeting with media on Tuesday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was asked if the organization had contemplated bringing the six-year veteran to Detroit.
“We haven’t really talked about that,” Campbell remarked. “I mean, the name has come up, but it’s not like we sat down and talked about that, so I don’t want to give you a yes or a no.”

Jones, who had been with the New York Giants for six years, was released on November 22. Jones made the request, and team president and owner John Mara allowed it.

Jones was benched four days before his release due to poor performance, and Giants backup quarterback Tommy DeVito took his place. Jones passed for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions in ten games this season, but only completed 63.3% of his attempts.

Following his benching, claims circulated that Jones was demoted to the position of scout team safety.

Jones led the Giants to a 24-44-1 record as a starter.
Shortly after Jones’ release, Fox Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz predicted that the Lions, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Dolphins would be among the teams interested in his services.

If Jones lands in Detroit, he would give the Lions another alternative if starter Jared Goff was injured. Hendon Hooker, a second-year player, is now Goff’s backup, and Campbell admits he has improved since being in Detroit.

“He’s made progress, which is exactly what we told him from the beginning: we simply need to grow. “We need you to grow every week,” Campbell explained. “And in practice, we’ve given him good-on-good opportunity to run our offence. And we’ve placed as much pressure on him as we can. “I believe he has made significant progress.”Every guy matures at his own pace, and he’s growing. Listen, if the moment comes, he must be prepared to play. Period. Whether he is prepared or not, he will go out there. There are some things he excels at, and those are the things I believe he will succeed with. And you take it from there.
