” Huge Tension Growing Again At Padres Following The Future Of Luis Arraez Amid Blue Jays Blockbuster Proposal

According to reports, the San Diego Padres are considering offers for their star player, Dylan Cease. Trading Cease before he walks in free agency could be the wisest course of action because he is about to enter his walk year and the Padres don’t appear to be too confident in re-signing him. Recently, Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report proposed a trade that would send Cease to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for two pitchers. The deal Rymer proposed that would send Cease to the Blue Jays is as follows:

The Toronto Blue Jays are given: RHP Dylan Cease RHP Yariel Rodríguez and LHP Ricky Tiedemann (number four prospect) are acquired by the San Diego Padres. “Toronto is obviously open to adding a No. 1 starter, but this isn’t really based on anything. The club would never have offered Corbin Burnes more money than it has ever given to a single player for any other reason,” Rymer stated. “To be honest, the Blue Jays should be focusing on Cease now that they have to think about backup plans. Given that Rodríguez’s AAV of $6.4 million is less than half of Cease’s estimated $13.7 million, this move would put the Padres below the luxury tax threshold.Naturally, a downgrade from Cease to Rodríguez would occur. However, if the Padres win the Rōki Sasaki sweepstakes, it will be simpler to accept the downgrade because Rodríguez is at least a usable pitcher.

Tiedemann would be advantageous for San Diego, in his opinion. Both parties benefit from this deal. A legitimate ace would be acquired by the Blue Jays, who could then re-sign him during the winter. Cease would be on top of one of baseball’s strongest rotations. Instead of watching their ace depart in free agency in a year, the Padres would receive excellent value from him. The Blue Jays have two potential arms in Rodríguez and Tiedemann.
