LEXINGTON, KY – The University of Kentucky Wildcats made history on Saturday night, tying the all-time college basketball record for most wins in a single program with a dominant 82-65 victory over Missouri. With this impressive win, Kentucky has now secured its 2,320th all-time victory, equaling the record set by the University of North Carolina.
The Wildcats’ performance was fueled by a standout game from star guard Antonio Reeves, who led the team with 26 points, including six three-pointers. His red-hot shooting was instrumental in Kentucky’s second-half surge, as the Wildcats pulled away from Mizzou after a tight first half.
“We’ve worked hard to get to this point, and to tie that record is a huge honor for all of us,” Reeves said. “This program has so much history, and I’m just grateful to be a part of it.”
In addition to Reeves’ offensive brilliance, Kentucky’s defense was stifling. The Wildcats forced 15 turnovers and held the Tigers to just 40% shooting from the field. Kentucky’s ability to disrupt Mizzou’s offense and control the pace of the game was a testament to their defensive improvements under head coach John Calipari.
“We’ve been focusing on getting better every day, and tonight was a great example of that,” Calipari said. “The players executed the game plan beautifully. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, but we’re not satisfied. There’s more work to be done.”
With the win, Kentucky improves to 25-5 on the season and remains a top contender for a high seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. As the Wildcats prepare for their final stretch of games, the momentum from this historic win could be the spark they need to make a deep postseason run.
Stay tuned as Kentucky looks to break the all-time wins record in their next game! 🏀🔥
