The Philadelphia Phillies will be in the market for significant upgrades later this offseason. The Phillies are now in the middle of a terrific season that has already resulted in another NL East division win, and they will try to maintain their supremacy next season and beyond.

The Phillies could chase Alex Bregman in free agency.
Notably, standout slugger Kyle Schwarber is scheduled to enter free agency this offseason. Schwarber has undoubtedly been the Phillies’ greatest player this season, hitting.241/.367/.559 with an NL-leading 53 home runs and 129 RBIs. MLB rumors: Why Phillies, Giants are seen as viable Alex Bregman destinations

“It’s unlikely they can afford to sign both stars, but if they lose out on their slugger, signing Bregman would be quite a nice replacement,” Pressnell suggested. “Bregman would cover a void at third base, freeing up Alec Bohm to be traded or moved to the outfield. Again, this is an expensive plan, but one that the Phillies may pursue in order to maintain their position at the top of the league for years to come.”

Bregman is presently having a strong season in his debut year with the Boston Red Sox in 2025. Despite fighting with ailments all year, Bregman is slicing.

In 110 games, he hit.278/.364/.471, with 18 homers and 62 RBIs. Bregman was also chosen an All-Star for the first time in 2019 for his contributions. He inked a three-year, $120 million contract with the Red Sox before the season, but there are opt-out options in both 2025 and 2026.
