GREAT ADDITION: Los Angeles Rams Promote QB to Active Roster, Amid Matthew Stafford QUESTIONABLE availability Against Green Bay Packers

The Los Angeles Rams have added quarterback depth ahead of their game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Rams have elevated quarterback Dresser Winn from their practice squad, while starter Matthew Stafford is listed as questionable.
Winn joined the Los Angeles Rams practice squad earlier this month but will make his season debut in Week 9. Meanwhile, Stafford is still recovering from a thumb injury suffered in last Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Dresser Winn of the Los Angeles Rams will be activated before Week 9.

Los Angeles Rams Quarterback Dresser Winn
Dresser Winn, an undrafted rookie in the 2023 NFL draft, attended the University of Tennessee at Martin (UT-Martin). In 32 games over six seasons with the Skyhawks, he threw 37 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He also carried 174 times for 164 yards and eight touchdowns. His greatest season came in 2022, when he threw for 2,928 yards and 18 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
Winn appeared in only one preseason game, a 41-0 loss to the Denver Broncos. The 25-year-old completed three of five passes for 21 yards. He was released by the Los Angeles Rams at the end of August. However, he soon signed with the Edmonton Elks but was released before playing a game.

Matthew Stafford: It’s game time! Sunday is the decision.

Dresser Winn Rams
Rams of Los Angeles QB Matthew Stafford suffered a horrific injury in last Sunday’s rout of the Dallas Cowboys. During this week’s preparation, he damaged his right UCL and had three consecutive DNPs. Coach Sean McVay, on the other hand, views the Super Bowl-winning gunslinger as a game-time decision. If Stafford is unable to play, the Rams will turn to Brett Rypien and Dresser Winn.

Last week, Rypien filled in for the injured Stafford, going 5-of-10 for 42 yards. In the preseason, he was 14-of-23 for 92 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. The Boise State product spent the previous three seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he completed 60.7% of his throws for four touchdowns and eight interceptions. Meanwhile, Winn, who was just promoted from the practice squad, will serve as Rypien’s backup. He spent last season at UT-Martin.

Former Georgia Bulldogs star Stetson Bennett was also picked by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but the 26-year-old is currently on non-football injured reserve. His return date has not been set.
