Everton’s planned takeover by 777 Partners hasn’t gone as planned; they’ve had setback after setback in their attempt to gain complete control over the team.
Despite the unfortunate events of recent years for the Toffees, they remain one of England’s most legendary and historic teams, so it is not surprising that the Miami-based company is interested in adding a Premier League team to their multi-club model.
Though they received FA approval to become club directors, it appears that their desperation has caused them to possibly overestimate their ability to actually cough up the funds.
As a result, writer Paul Brown has shared his opinions on the subject, discussing the current state of the agreement with GIVEMESPORT.
“He is at least someone who knows all of the people involved, and they think will be able to pave the way for the takeover to be approved,” he said in response to a question about how David Dein’s new involvement might aid the process.
I believe that they are still facing many challenges, and that there are a number of issues with their finances and their ability to provide the necessary paperwork to the appropriate regulatory bodies in order to have this approved. I believe that everything is still up in the air, and I’ve been informed that there is currently less than a 50% chance that it will proceed.
Will 777 Partners acquire ownership of Everton?
Josh Wander and his partners agreed to a £500 million deal, so it seemed inevitable that they would take over Everton. However, they could not have predicted the number of obstacles they would have to overcome to complete their bid.
After all, while many initially questioned the veracity of their alleged $12 billion (£9.63 billion) wealth, others have more lately contended that they do not even have the money to purchase the team.
The pressure on 777 Partners has increased as a result, as a shadowy Indian substitute has now surfaced, prepared to step in should things go wrong.
It is now impossible to predict whether they will succeed in their attempted takeover, and recent events have made it even more challenging.
They have a contract in place with Moshiri, though, and all they need to do now is wait for the Premier League to rule on their ownership status. If they discover nothing wrong, all of the criticism directed towards them will be dropped.
