ESPN NEWS: Just in Auburn fans go crazy for an Alabama 5-star WR commitment

Observations
Hugh Freeze’s chance to lure five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams from Alabama to Auburn is still a dream come true for Auburn supporters.

Williams had an incredible career at Saraland (Ala.) High School, winning the Class 6A State Championship this year. He reclassified to the 2024 recruiting class. He performed brilliantly against Clay-Chalkville High School and won the Alabama-Mississippi Allstar Game’s Most Valuable Player award. Williams stated that he is “locked in to playing at Alabama” to Justin Smith, the Touchdown Alabama Magazine’s director of scouting and recruiting.

During Sunday’s basketball game between the Tigers and the USC Trojans, Williams caused a stir among Auburn supporters. “We want Williams!” yelled supporters from the student section.
Williams from Alabama is unlikely to be selected by Auburn, especially considering Nick Saban’s track record of selecting receivers in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Henry Ruggs III, Calvin Ridley, Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Jameson Williams were among the players he started in the first round. In 2020, Smith won the coveted bronze award and became the first receiver in Crimson Tide history to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy.
