JUST IN: Phillies agree to terms with 4 arbitration eligible players, will exchange salary figures with Alec Bohm

Ranger Suárez, Jeff Hoffman, Gregory Soto, and Edmundo Sosa were among the four arbitration-eligible players who agreed to terms with the Phillies on Thursday night.

The organization will discuss wages with Alec Bohm, who is entering his first season of arbitration eligibility.

According to Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sosa’s contract is for $1.7 million. According to Ari Alexander of KPRC Houston, Soto’s contract is for $5 million.

The Phillies agreed to terms with starting pitcher Ranger Suárez and reliever Jeff Hoffman earlier in the day. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Suárez’s contract is worth $5.05 million, while Hoffman signed for $2.2 million.

If Bohm and the Phillies cannot reach an agreement on a pay for 2024 over the next few weeks, the two parties will move to a hearing before three independent panelists. The two parties can reach a deal at any moment between now and the scheduled hearing during spring training.

Failure to reach an agreement by the deadline is not usually a major deal. The Phillies are not renowned as a “file-and-trial” team, which means they are occasionally willing to meet in the middle with players and reach an arrangement prior to the hearing.
