NFL NEWS: The Raiders are set to conduct their first head coach interview, Leslie Frazier over Antonio Pierceover

The Raiders have scheduled their first head coach interview.

Former Vikings coach Leslie Frazier will meet with Las Vegas brass on Tuesday to discuss the open coaching post, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.He will be the first candidate the Raiders interview as they seek a permanent successor for Josh McDaniels, who was sacked during the season and replaced by Antonio Pierce on an interim basis.

Pierce has the backing of the Raiders’ players to take over the job full-time, and he remains the front-runner, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Pierce went 5-4 last season after taking over for McDaniels.

“I would be blown away if Antonio wasn’t the pick,” an NFL insider said.

However, Pierce has interviewed for the vacant head coaching position in Tennessee, and the Titans and Pierce will meet on Saturday.

The Falcons have also asked for permission to interview Pierce for the post of head coach.

During his tenure as head coach in Minnesota, Frazier went 21-32-1 and lost the Vikings’ lone postseason game.\

He most recently served as the Bills’ defensive coordinator from 2017 to 2022.

Frazier recently interviewed for the Chargers’ head coaching job as well.

The Raiders are rumoured to be interested in Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, who is on the list of multiple teams, but no interviews with the College Football Playoff championship-winning coach have been planned.

This season, the Raiders finished second in the AFC West with an 8-9 record.

During the coaching search, the Raiders are enlisting the assistance of Hall of Fame defensive lineman Richard Seymour, who revealed on X that he is part of the team looking for Vegas’ next coach.
