GOOD NEWS: The Crimson Tide is well represented, as three former Alabama players were honoured for their strong seasons as PFWA Defensive Rookie of the Year.

As the NFL approaches conference championship weekend, the Professional Football Writers of America revealed its 2023 All-Rookie team on Tuesday.

Three former Alabama players received recognition for their outstanding seasons, ensuring that the Crimson Tide is well represented. Will Anderson Jr., an edge rusher, safety Jordan Battle, and running back Jahmyr Gibbs.

Because of his outstanding season, Anderson Jr. won the 2023 PFWA Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

The 2023 NFL Draft’s third overall selection made appearances in 15 games, starting 13 of them. Ten of his 29 tackles were for a loss. The majority of Anderson Jr.’s impact occurred during passing situations since he posed a threat to opposing quarterbacks. He led all rookies in pressure with seven sacks, 67 pressures, and 22 quarterback hits.

Ironically, he is the second former Alabama player to get this honor—DeMeco Ryans, his head coach, was the first to do so in 2007. C.J. Stroud, Anderson Jr.’s teammate, won the PFWA Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
