NEWS FLASH: The best defensive line class in America has been signed by the Miami Hurricanes

The best defensive line class in America has been signed by the Miami Hurricanes.

First-year defensive line coach Jason Taylor had a big impact on the group, which included 4-Star players like Marquise Lightfoot and Booker Pickett Jr. and 5-Star prospects Justin Scott and Armondo Blount. At the end of the cycle, the Pro Football Hall of Famer was regarded as the nation’s fifth-best recruiter. For someone who was just promoted from an analyst position a year ago, that is a huge impact.

In my Locked On Canes podcast, we discussed Taylor’s influence and the value of starting from the line of scrimmage.

– According to my forecast, Justin Scott will be the rookie defensive lineman most likely to have an immediate effect. Despite not being able to enroll early, his incredible athleticism at 6-4 and 310 pounds will make it difficult to keep him off the field.

-During an appearance on The Momentum Podcast, Jacurri Brown won over the admiration of Miami fans. Brown gave an explanation of why he chose to redshirt the previous season, emphasizing the importance of developing personally and gaining a ton of practice reps with the scout squad. It’s obvious that Brown values competition and wants to grow. He doesn’t appear at all resentful of Mario Cristobal for adding Cam Ward to the team because he understands why.

-A wide receiver is still something Miami would like to add to the roster before the 2019–20 season. Leland Smith, a JUCO standout, will be playing for the Hurricanes this weekend. On February 7th, National Signing Day, the 6-5, 205-pound prospect from Fullerton College (Houston, TX) might make his selection.
