The Houston Texans are coming off a surprise season in which Offensive Rookie of the Year CJ Stroud led the team to the AFC South championship and their first playoff victory since 2019.
Houston, now with $70 million in cap space, is well-positioned to grow on its good foundation.
One glaring need is in the backfield, where KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reports that the team and running back Devin Singletary are interested in reuniting this offseason.
Singletary is coming off a career-high 898 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the Texans and is one of the NFL’s most consistent backs, missing only one game in the last four years.

Dameon Pierce is the Texans’ only other established running back, thus the position is a top priority this offseason.
It’s also tough to ignore the second name Wilson highlighted in his tweet: Saquon Barkley.
Given the well-documented volatile nature of the running back market in recent years, it is unlikely that Barkley will be lured away from New York for an exorbitant fee.

If Barkley has already circled the Texans as his preferred choice and is in communication with Stroud, expectations will skyrocket, and returning to Singletary as the primary back will feel like settling.
This is certainly a situation to watch, as a Singletary reunion would be a wonderful sight for the Texans, but it’s difficult not to wonder what Barkley might look like in this youthful and fast offence.
