Shams Charania of The Athletic was first to report.
Flynn is best remembered for his 50-point outburst against the Atlanta Hawks on April 3, last season.
Flynn scored 50 points off the bench, becoming only the third player in NBA history to do it. His efforts undoubtedly influenced his value in the free agency market.
He’ll join the Spurs’ backcourt rotation, which includes Chris Paul, Stephon Castle, Tre Jones, and Devin Vassell. Flynn has played for three teams since getting drafted in 2020, thus playing time is not guaranteed.
What he does with the opportunities he is given, such as in the April 3 game against the Hawks, will decide his role in San Antonio next season and beyond.

Chris Paul Named ‘Best New Weapon’ for Spurs
Following a 22-60 season in which Wembanyama won Rookie of the Year, the Spurs realized that an upgrade at point guard was a top goal.
They accomplished their goal by signing Chris Paul. According to Dan Favale of Bleacher Report, the 39-year-old is San Antonio’s “best new weapon” for the upcoming season.
And it is all based on Wembanyama.
“Plopping CP3 beside Victor Wembanyama is a potential cheat code—a horrifying possibility if you’re a rival team, because Wemby is already an entire cluster of cheat codes by himself,” Favale said on August 7.
According to Stathead, just 12 players logged 2,000 or more minutes and had a 30% or higher usage rate during the regular season.
Wembanyama is among them, with big names such as Anthony Edwards, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jalen Brunson, and Luka Doncic.
Adding a floor general like Paul, who is third all-time in assists, will allow Wembanyama to play more freely. After averaging 21.4 points per game, his time away from the ball allowed him to improve his scoring game.
“Paul may pound the air out of the ball on a handful of possessions, but he remains an expert defensive manipulator and offensive chaperone,” Favale said. “Wemby should get to spend even more time in a play-finishing role, both at the rim and from beyond the arc.”
According to Cleaning the Glass, the Spurs averaged 114 points per 100 possessions last season with starters Tre Jones and Wembanyama on the floor. That is in the 43rd percentile.
San Antonio scored 102.6 points per game with anyone else at point guard and Wembanyama on the roster, ranking in the third percentile.
Jones coming off the bench behind Paul should help the Spurs’ offence. As a result, Wembanyama’s rise to prominence as a scorer will accelerate.
Spurs set to sign De’Andre Hunter
Until the first quarter of the regular season begins, San Antonio will continue to conduct due diligence on available talent.

When you have a talent like Wembanyama, you have to. That is why Tyler Conway ranked the Spurs as one of the top landing locations for Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter.
“The Spurs are ready to start building an actual basketball team around Victor Wembanyama, and Hunter is the exact type of player who has always thrived under coach Gregg Popovich,” Conway wrote in a piece for August 7. “San Antonio also has money to spend and a couple assets it could throw Atlanta’s way to make the trade seem palatable.”
Hunter recently completed his fifth NBA season, all of which were spent with the Hawks. He averaged 15.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 57 regular-season games last season.
