Josh Jacobs has been a pleasant addition to the Green Bay Packers since signing a four-year, $48 million free agent contract in March. The All-Pro rushing back is averaging 4.8 yards per carry and has 89 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns through nine games entering Sunday. On September 27, the NFL penalized Jacobs $45,020 for unnecessary roughness/helmet use against Tennessee Titans defensive back Quandre Diggs in Week 3. However, it looks that the 26-year-old Packers star has escaped punishment after all.
According to NFL source Tom Pelissero, the league has cancelled Jacobs’ Week 3 fine. “Josh Jacobs’ $45,020 fine has been rescinded in its entirety, per his agent Chad Wiestling,” Pelissero told X. “For the second time in as many years, Jacobs has had a helmet-related fine overturned on appeal. The third fine was likewise decreased.”
Jacobs was fined more than $43,000 for two different helmet-related offences in 2023, putting him on the NFL’s radar heading into the 2024 season. In early September, Jacobs was named one of more than 20 players in a league document warning teams about the consequences of further safety infractions.

“The NFL recently sent a memo to more than 20 players and the teams that they play for, emphasizing the importance of safety and sportsmanship and warning them that any violations would result in suspensions,” league sources told ESPN.” NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported on September 8. Jacobs and company will get a bye week on Sunday before returning to action in Week 11 against NFC North rivals the Chicago Bears.
