BLOCKBUSTER DEAL: ESPN Predicts 49ers QB Brock Purdy to Land $916M Mega Contract And $112 Million Guaranteed

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is on track to secure a massive payday, as ESPN analysts predict the rising star will sign a four-year, $196 million contract extension this offseason.

The deal, which would average $49 million per year, would make Purdy one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. After leading the 49ers to back-to-back NFC Championship appearances and a Super Bowl berth, Purdy has proven he is much more than just “Mr. Irrelevant,” the title he earned as the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Since taking over as San Francisco’s starter in December 2022, Purdy has been nothing short of spectacular. In the 2023 season, he led the league in passer rating (113.0), threw for over 4,200 yards, and notched 31 touchdowns while guiding the 49ers to a 12-5 record. His efficiency and poise in head coach Kyle Shanahan’s system have turned him into a franchise cornerstone.

With just one year left on his rookie contract, the 49ers are expected to move quickly to lock him into a long-term deal. According to ESPN’s projections, the extension could be similar to the four-year, $160 million deal signed by New York Giants QB Daniel Jones in 2023 but with significantly higher guarantees.

While Purdy’s anticipated deal would solidify the quarterback position, it could create financial challenges for San Francisco. The 49ers already have high-priced stars like Nick Bosa, Deebo Samuel, and Christian McCaffrey on the payroll, making it difficult to keep the entire core together.

If Purdy’s contract reaches $196 million, it will force the front office to make tough decisions regarding key free agents and roster depth.

Despite the financial hurdles, locking up Purdy long-term is a priority for the 49ers. If ESPN’s prediction holds true, San Francisco will ensure its quarterback of the future remains under center for years to come.
